Commissioner of Police: ‘Murder investigation involving John McAfee dies with him’

Posted: Friday, June 25, 2021. 8:37 pm CST.

By Benjamin Flowers: John McAfee was a major person of interest for police in the 2012 murder investigation of Аmbеrgrіѕ Сауе resident, Grеgоrу Fаull, but with news of his recent death, the Belize Police Department says that investigation will be put to rest as well.

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams said that he has seen the reports from international media regarding his passing, but has not confirmed if they are true.

“If it is that the information is true then the investigation is dead. We cannot prosecute a person who is dead,” Williams said.

Faull was found in his home face-down in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to the back of the head in November 2012. He reportedly had a contentious relationship with McAfee, who was his neighbour, for some time before he was killed. Police sought McAfee for questioning but he fled to the US.

This week it was reported that he apparently committed suicide inside his prison cell in Spain after a deal was struck to extradite him to the US on tax evasion charges.
