By Benjamin Flowers: Mexican media have reported late last night that three men (allegedly from Belize) were shot execution-style on a beach in Tulum; however, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams says that Belizean authorities have no official information on the matter.
Williams said today that, since the matter occurred outside Belize, any information regarding the incident will be channelled through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but there has not been any communication from the Ministry as yet.
“If the information is true, there’s certain things that we will eventually do in Belize in order to prevent any retaliation or any cross-border incidents,” Williams said. “But like I said, from the police standpoint, we have not been able to confirm if, in fact, the information is true.”
Williams went on to say that the department has already begun rolling out measures in the event that the information is true, but declined to divulge any specifics.
This is a developing story.
