Man decapitated in Orange Walk reportedly knew his killer

Posted: Friday, June 25, 2021. 6:20 pm CST.

By Benjamin Flowers: Police have reason to believe that the victim of a brutal murder in Honey Camp, Orange Walk, who was found yesterday, knew his killer.

Police Commissioner Chester Williams gave an update today, saying that he believes police have positively identified the victim and that the name will be released later.

“From what the investigation was showing, that the person and the persons we suspect to have been the murderer as the case may be, that they are friends and they were socializing together the night before, and apparently something went wrong between the two of them which led to the incident that occurred,” Williams said.

He noted that the Officer Commanding the Orange Walk formation says that he is optimistic that they will be able to charge someone soon for the crime, given the way the investigation is going.

Police have one person detained for questioning since the discovery of the body yesterday, on a road between Honey Camp and Santa Marta Village. The victim’s severed head was located not far from his body. He is currently only identified as “Rigo” with an alias of “Rambo.”
