By Aaron Humes: Robbers pulled a fast one on the staff of Gas Tomza in Belize City on Thursday afternoon.
According to police, someone called the Gas Tomza depot office on the Philip Goldson Highway under the name Adrian Neal, cell number 626-8731, asking for gas to be delivered to 88 Shopping Center on Central American Boulevard and Neal Pen Road.
Driver Henry Pleytez and delivery man Manuel Magana were assigned and headed to the supermarket complex. They called the number and a man answered who directed them to Rasta Street on the opposite side, behind 88 Plaza.
They parked at the gate behind the store when two men approached: one dark-skinned, about five feet five inches tall; heavy build and dressed in a red shirt, black pants and wearing a black ski mask, and the other also dark-skinned, about an inch taller, slim and wearing white shirt and pants and black mask. The first robber pulled his weapon, pointed it at Pleytez’s head, and demanded money. Pleytez handed over $30 and Magana $150 and a black Motorola Brand Cellular Phone with calling number 601-6978 valued at $400.00, after which the duo fled.
The complainants then ran to 88 Shopping Center Police Booth in order to seek immediate help, but the officers there told them to visit the CIB office at the Raccoon Street Police Station.
Police are reviewing surveillance cameras in the area and spoke to several persons but their investigation continues.
