By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The United States National Hurricane Center (NHC) is tracking a strong tropical wave that’s moving off the coast of Africa.
In its 8 am Tropical Weather Outlook for the North Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico, the NHC said that “Disorganized showers and thunderstorms over the far eastern Atlantic” are associated with the tropical wave and that any development “of this system should be slow to occur during the next several days due to marginally conducive environmental conditions.”
The NHC expects the tropical wave to move westward to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph across the tropical eastern and central Atlantic through the middle of next week.”
As of the 8 am report on Friday, it had a 10% chance of forming a tropical depression in the next two days and a 20% chance of forming in the next five days.
