Chargé d’Affaires Keith Gilges: “Belize to benefit from US vaccine donations”

By Zoila Palma: U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Kieth Gilges told BBN that Belize will benefit from the United States’ vaccine donations.

Gilges says that the United States continues its massive drive to vaccinate Americans and over 50% are fully vaccinated.

This benefits Belize, Gilges said, because fully vaccinated Americans are able to travel and they make up the bulk of visitors to Belize.

“Biden announced on June 10 that the US will be providing half a billion doses of vaccine around the world. So, we are looking at the initial batch. We don’t know how it will be distributed but we do know there will be a chunk coming here,” Gilges said.

U.S. President Joe Biden had pledged to share 80 million shots globally by the end of June.
