Man charged with the shooting of police sergeant Nowel Muschamp

By BBN Staff: Police announced today that they have arrested one person in connection with the shooting of police sergeant Nowel Muschamp.

Around 2:20 p.m., officers formally arrested and charged 20-year-old Jahson Gonguez, a mechanic from Belize City.

Gonguez was charged with ‘Use of deadly means of Harm’ and ‘Wounding’ for the incident which occurred yesterday, Saturday, June 26.

Muschamp had gone to service his licensed weapon when four men ambushed him on his return. One of the four fired several shots, one of which hit him to the right calf.

The other assailants are still at large at this time.
