Prime Minister John Briceño: ‘Vaccination is Job Creation!’

Posted: Tuesday, June 29, 2021. 1:19 pm CST.

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: “Vaccination is job creation!” Prime Minister John Briceño posted today on Facebook.

“I encourage everyone who is eligible, to go get their vaccine,” posted Briceño.

“We must do our part in working together to slow the spread of Covid-19 in Belize.”

The Government of Belize has been encouraging Belizeans to get vaccinated and the response has not been as good as expected. While in Belize vaccination is now open to all the population over 18 years of age, in a number of neighbouring countries people under-50 are still not being vaccinated.

With 199 cases countrywide you’d say the numbers of infections are low, but just a few weeks ago the numbers were well under 50. The concern, particularly with cases showing up in certain work-places, is that we might end up with another wave.

Already countries around the world are having to deal with the Delta variant of the coronavirus which is said to be more infectious and more severe. Plus, now there is the Delta Plus variant which is even more severe than the Delta variant.

So, it makes sense to heed the advice of Prime Minister Briceño.
