By Aaron Humes: Police have served a notice of intended prosecution on George Roland Ortega, a linesman with Belize Electricity Limited, following a road traffic accident early on Monday in the village of Big Falls, Toledo District, near the bridge.
Ortega was driving north on the Southern Highway, heading to Belmopan just after six in the morning, on a wet road in cloudy and rainy conditions, when while taking a curve his Chevrolet Equinox began to slide to the left and ran into Juan Chun, 53, a teacher of Silver Creek Village, who was heading south on his Sky Go motorcycle.
Chun died almost on the spot from severe head and body injuries and was later formally pronounced dead. Police took a blood sample from Ortega and the matter is under investigation.
