Gross Domestic Product: Utility production, construction rise; manufacturing, tourism falls

Posted: Wednesday, June 30, 2021. 11:11 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: The secondary sector or manufacturing sector rose more than 4 percent due mainly to increases in production of electricity and beer, with slightly less soft drinks being produced and continued reduction in petroleum production.

Sugar production rose while citrus concentrate production fell.

The services sector fell by 12 percent, with reductions in trade, transport, and communications, and government services as the impact of COVID-19 continues.

Overall overnight tourist arrivals are down compared to 2020 when the pandemic took hold.
