Increase in cases of Delta variant prompts face-mask questions

Posted: Wednesday, June 30, 2021. 2:11 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma: People who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are still being urged to wear their face masks.

The delta variant of the virus continues to spread and there is mounting concern about the threat and the threat it poses to global immunity.

In the US, several centers maintain their face mask policy.

Public health authorities are urging even those fully vaccinated to wear their face masks.

“With increased circulation of the highly transmissible Delta variant, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health strongly recommends everyone, regardless of vaccination status, wear masks indoors in public places as a precautionary measure,” the LA public health department said in a statement.

An official from the US Centers for Disease Control also warned that those that are unvaccinated still remain at risk.

In the US, the delta variant accounted for 26% of new cases since June 19.

Health experts say that the delta variant is more transmissible.

Therefore, you must continue to wear your mask, practice social distancing and get vaccinated.
