Posted: Wednesday, June 30, 2021. 11:14 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: Belizeans are paying 2.8 percent more for goods and services in May of 2021 compared to the same month last year.

The inflation rate through May is 1.8 percent, primarily due to the rises in food prices and fuel prices.

Other increases were seen in transport and personal care, while restaurant prices, utilities and housing and clothing and footwear.

Belizeans are paying nearly five percent more on average for fruits and vegetables as well as meats, eggs and natural milk.

Average fuel prices went down for premium fuel but rose for regular fuel and diesel. Taxi fares also rose.
