Tropical Depression likely to form by tomorrow

Posted: Wednesday, June 30, 2021. 2:18 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma: The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is closely monitoring 2 disturbances in the Atlantic.

One of the disturbances has a 90 % chance of formation within the next 5 days.

The NHC says that showers and thunderstorms associated with a broad low pressure area and tropical wave located about 1300 miles east-southeast of the Windward Islands have become better organized.

Environmental conditions appear generally favorable for continued development, and a tropical depression or storm is likely to form during the next day or two while the system moves west-northwestward at 20 to 25 mph.

NHC says that tropical storm watches for portions of the Lesser Antilles could be issued later today.
