By Zoila Palma: Today, El Salvador received 1.5 million doses of Moderna vaccine from the United States of America.
“The United States will continue to deliver vaccine doses to the world to help save lives and rebuild the global economy,” a statement from the US State Department said.
This is as part of President Joe Biden’s commitment to assist with vaccine donations.
On June 10, Biden announced that the US will be providing half a billion doses of vaccine around the world.
The White House had said that it would allocate at least 75 percent of the first 25 million doses of vaccines —nearly 19 million—through COVAX, including approximately 6 million doses for Latin America and the Caribbean.
El Salvador has recorded almost 80,000 COVID-19 infections and 2304 deaths.
