Man charged with kidnapping his common-law wife free to go after alleged victim denies incident happened

By BBN Staff: Ronlee Petillo, 33, who was charged with kidnapping his common-law wife in May, is a free man tonight after the alleged victim told the court that the incident never occurred.

Petillo was charged by police, despite the woman stressing that she was not kidnapped and going as far as giving a television interview to explain that there was no kidnapping. She alleged that police proceeded to charge him anyway because they have a grievance against Petillo.

Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford dismissed the case today after the crown failed to produce any evidence of a kidnapping in court. Petillo was jointly charged with a minor who was also vindicated from the charges.
