By Benjamin Flowers: A man was killed yesterday in the Stann Creek District in what police suspect to be a hit-and-run traffic accident.
Police say that sometime after 7 p.m. on Monday, a person walking along the Southern Highway near the Kendall Bridge found a body along the road, later identified as Hector Manuel Javiel, 38-year-old resident of Kendall Village.
At a police briefing today, Director of communications for the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Assistant Superintendent of Police Fitzroy Yearwood, said that no vehicle was found in the area where his Javiel’s body was recovered.
“We believe it may be a hit and run. We are appealing to the public, if you have any information that would help us solve this apparent RTA, please come forward and contact the nearest police station,” Yearwood said.
Javiel was reportedly socializing with some relatives earlier that evening, left to head home, and was later found dead on the road.
