By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Westrac’s Victor Figueroa won the Belize Audubon Society’s Trailblazer 5K at St. Herman’s Blue Hole National Park on Sunday, July 4, in 27 minutes, 8.3 seconds.
Figueroa, who is from San Ignacio, won by 1 minute and 53.9 seconds.
The race started at 6:30 am on the Jungle and Lowland Trails at the Blue Hole National Park Visitor Centre, 12 miles south of Belmopan on the Hummingbird Highway.
The race was organized by the Belize Audubon Society and timed by Total Time Belize.
Daniel Cruz of Esperanza ran in second in 29:02.2.
Edgar Alvarez of Team Juiciness clocked 29:41.9 finishing in the 3rd spot. Fourth place was taken by Victor Rauda of Westrac in 30:30.7.
Rafael August Jr. of the Santa Elena Elite got 5th in 30:43.4. Stuart Tucker of Powered by Plants followed closely in 6th in 30:46.6.
Seventh place belonged to Juan Santos of the Splash Running Club. Santos completed the race in 31:06.5.
StoneFit Club’s Stanlaus O’Niel was 8th in 31:47.7 and Israel Manzanero finished 9th in 32:18.2.
Ian Manzanero rounded off the top ten in 33:22.5.
Twenty-six men competed in the race which also included 22 women. Ana López won the women’s category finishing 7th overall with a tome of 30:57.4.
