By BBN Staff: Earlier today, the United Democratic Party (UDP) issued a press release vehemently denouncing the assassination of the Haitian President, Jovenel Moise.
In the release, the UDP extended its deepest sympathies to the family, friends and supporters of President Moise, and “pray for the full recovery of his wife who was struck by an assassin’s bullet”.
The UDP noted that “the heinous act marks a tragedy for democracy and humanity” and urged the Haitian people to “use only peaceful means to preserve their democracy”.
According to the UDP, Haiti has proven to be “resilient and indomitable since establishing herself as the first independent Caribbean Nation in 1804”, and the UDP has no doubt that the country will “overcome the latest challenges in her quest for lasting peace, freedom and democracy”.
