By BBN Staff: The Prime Minister of Belize, John Briceño, is off to the United States for an official meeting with Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), Antonio Guterres at the UN Headquarters in New York City, New York.
During the meeting PM Briceño will address various issues including climate change, Belize’s work on the Economic and Social Council, security, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Guatemalan claim to Belizean territory, which is now before the International Court of Justice.
The Prime Minister left the country on Wednesday, July 7 and returns to Belize on July 11. During his absence, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources, Petroleum and Mining, Cordel Hyde, will act as Prime Minister.
