By Aaron Humes: Toledo-based Senator Bevin Cal issued a message to residents of the villages of Barranco, Conejo and Midway on the adjournment of the Senate to be patient as they endure two weeks of COVID-19 related lockdown.
The villages are receiving food packages every four days until July 16 and weekly stipends for the two weeks under lockdown to compensate for their lack of freedom of movement and getting to jobs and so on.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness’ revamped vaccine campaign calls on us all to do our part, said Cal, to get vaccinated “before you relax” in the Ministry’s words.
And unvaccinated people, according to a U.S. expert on indigenous disease, can never truly relax, as they are subject to unhealthy mutations and the more there are, the more opportunities there are for the virus to multiply.
Yet many are still unvaccinated in Toledo, a concern because of some of them being remote and making it harder to reach out to all.
The Senator said he and his family have been vaccinated, and the traditional alcaldes and village policemen are informing on the village-to-village clinics due to start shortly. The more persons vaccinated, the more the country can reopen for jobs and revitalization of the economy. We should take advantage of the generous donations by other countries of vaccines, and continue to abide by the rules of handwashing, social distance and mask-wearing.
