By Aaron Humes: A virtual meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) took place on July 5 and 6 virtually, headed by incoming chairman and Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne.
Belize has been selected to host the next intersessional meeting in February of 2022, though at this point it is not clear whether it will be in person.
The full complement of Heads of State and Government of the region attended except for Saint Lucia, who was represented by its Ambassador to the Caribbean Community Her Excellency Elma-Gene Isaac.
Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, who cedes office to Belize’s Dr Carla Barnett in August, thanked the Heads of Government for their support during his tenure and expressed his pride at being allowed to serve the Community.
Heads reached key agreements to be outlined in future stories.
