By Benjamin Flowers: The Belize Police Department has seized over 100 pounds of marijuana following an operation in Corozal last night.
Officers of a special operation team conducted searches in an area of Consejo Village, Corozal District, at about 11:45 p.m on Thursday, where they saw two Hispanic men riding on bicycles carrying large black bundles. When the men saw police, they ran into nearby bushes leaving their bicycles and bundles behind.
Upon examining the contents of the two black packages, officers discovered a total of 60 parcels each containing marijuana. The drugs were transported to the Police Station where it was processed and weighed and amounted to 107 pounds.
Police searched for the men but could not find them, as such, the drugs were deposited as found property.
