By Benjamin Flowers: The Belize Police Department found over three kilos of cocaine on a passenger bus stopped at a vehicle checkpoint in northern Belize yesterday, making it the second such find at the same checkpoint in less than a day.
Officers set up at Buena Vista Village, Mile 66 on the Philip Goldson Highway, stopped a passenger bus headed towards Corozal, and during a search found the drugs in a floral bag on the floor of the luggage area in the rear of the bus. Inside the bag were three parcels, which when weighed, amounted to 3.4 kilograms.
No one on the bus claimed the bag, so the drugs were sealed and deposited as found property.
Earlier that day, police had found a similar 3.4 kilos of cocaine in a bag placed behind the driver of a bus headed to Orange Walk. Those drugs were also deposited as found property.
