By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Oscar Quiroz of 501 Valvoline Cycling Team rode to the finish line alone to win the Sunday San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town Council cycling race organized by councilor Zahir Figueroa in 1 hour, 51 minutes, and 42 seconds.
The 45.6-mile race went 12 laps on the circuit between Matus Autoparts on La Loma Luz Boulevard in Santa Elena and the intersection near Sacred Heart College in San Ignacio. Each lap is approximately 3.8 miles said, Figueroa.
G-Flows’ Shawn Codd took second place and Westrac’s Carlton Robinson rode in third.
Project BZE’s Jyven Gonzalez finished fourth while G-Flow’s Shane Jones arrived in 5th place.
Derrick Chavarria of 501 Valvoline won the Junior Category.
Daniel Williams of Jason’s Cycling Team was second and G-Flow’s Renan Codd finished 3rd.
Jamid Martinez won the Amateur A Category. Carlos Tun was second.
