By Benjamin Flowers: Despite Patrick Faber exceeded the number of votes needed to remain leader of the United Democratic Party, former UDP leader John Saldivar says that the recall vote results prove that Faber should step down.
When the votes were tallied Faber, who only needed 162 votes to remain Party Leader, managed to secure 226. Saldivar took to Facebook shortly after the convention to give his thoughts on what the numbers signify.
“More than fifty percent of delegates voted against Patrick Faber. You have no mandate to lead. Step down, sir.”
Saldivar, had beaten Faber at a leadership convention last year, only to lose the position 72 hours later after text messages he sent to convicted fraudster Lev Dermen made it into the public domain.
Following his victory, Faber stressed that he intends to rebuild the UDP, but that those who are adamant about not working with him will “just have to move on.”
