By Aaron Humes: A majority of United Democratic Party members have voted against Patrick Faber to stay leader, but not a 2-3rds majority as needed.
Of 483 votes cast, Faber won 226 and the no side 257. The threshold was 162 against 322.
Party Chairman Michael Peyrefitte said the task of party unity now falls to the once and still leader and his effective co-leader in the House of Representatives, Moses “Shyne” Barrow.
And according to Peyrefitte, these divisions and rebuilding process are nothing new and as chairman he will reach out to all sides and get them to sit down and work together to defeat the real enemy, the PUP.
Referring to former leader Dean Barrow, Peyrefitte said there is a big gap to fill, “but fill it we must fill it we will, and just in time for the next election.
Much more to come.
