Antigua and Barbuda makes vaccination mandatory for all workers who have contact with cruise tourists

Posted: Wednesday, July 14, 2021. 1:33 pm CST.

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Since there is no CARICOM protocol regarding cruise ships, Antigua and Barbuda has moved to make vaccination compulsory for all workers and officials who are likely to have contact with tourists and other persons who disembark from cruise ships.

A CARICOM Today report said that all such workers or officials have to be fully vaccinated.

CARICOM Today said the first cruise ship after the pandemic was set to arrive in Antigua Heritage Quay Port on Tuesday with more than 100 100 tourists.

The report added that 100% of the cruise ship’s crew is fully vaccinated and 90% of the passengers as well.

The report also said that so far 55% of taxi drivers had been fully vaccinated along with 72% of vendors, 72% of the merchants and their staff, and 60% of tour operators and staff.

Those who are not vaccinated would have to do rapid testing at their own expense.
