COVID-19 update: Number of active cases slides below 270; number of recovered closes in on 13 thousand

By Aaron Humes: With 35 new recoveries and 26 new cases of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health and Wellness’ active count of cases stands at 268 as of today, Wednesday.

There are still 8 persons actively hospitalized and two in intensive care.

16 new infectees were female and ten male.

321 persons are under active investigation for the virus.

No new deaths were reported, keeping that figure at 331.

Cumulatively there are 13,613 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in Belize, of which 12,996 have recovered for a percentage of 95.5.

Approximately 8.5 percent of the population has been infected with COVID-19, with more than 13 thousand cases standing at 8.49 percent of all tests done. Some 160 thousand Belizeans have been tested.
