Kaya Cattouse already set in Chicago, trained today for Intelligentsia Cup

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize cyclist Kaya Cattouse is set for the Intelligentsia Cup that starts on Friday in Chicago.

“Did a two-hour ride a while ago,” she said earlier today in a WhatsApp text from Chicago.

The National Road and Time Trial Sub-champion said she got in late last night into the Windy City after her flight was delayed in Belize and Miami on Tuesday.

The Intelligentsia Cup she is competing in is a ten-day event that runs from July 16-25. It is comprised of nine days of criterium racing in and around Chicago with a one-day break.

“After months of preparation, the time is finally here. Excited to be racing at Intelli again,” said Kaya before she left on Tuesday.

Earlier she said she had put in proper training and saw herself finishing in the top five overall for the ten days and more podiums than in 2019. Kaya first competed in the Intelligentsia Cup in 2018.

Last year, the event was canceled because of the pandemic.
