“In presenting his credentials, Ambassador Young expressed Belize’s commitment to continue strengthening the bilateral relations based on common values of democracy, peace and security, good governance, and sustainable development for the betterment of the people of both countries”, the press release noted.

During the meeting, President Biden spoke of the strong partnerships Belize and the U.S. enjoy and applauded Belize’s peaceful transition of power in November 2020, praising it as a testament to Belize’s tradition of democracy.

Ambassador Young also presented his credentials to H.E. Luis Almagro, Secretary-General of the OAS on July 9, 2021.

Ambassador Young praised the work of the OAS and noted that working together at regional and hemispheric levels through a multilateral forum such as the OAS is the only way to effectively confront the multiple challenges which member states face.

He reiterated Belize’s commitment to work with its neighbors to achieve the goals of peace, sustainable development, and the well-being of all the peoples of the Americas. Secretary General Almagro commented on the very important role Belize has always played in the organization, noting that H.E.
