By Aaron Humes: In addition to the South, the Orange Walk Central conurbation, centered on Orange Walk Town, and Greater Belize City, including Hattieville and Ladyville, has seen a worrying spike of COVID-19 cases this week.
Ten new cases were reported in both districts (not including San Pedro Town which reported five cases itself).
Orange Walk Town has four new cases; Carmelita village to the south, three; San Jose Palmar just north of it, two; and Trial Farm to the north, one.
Belize City has seven new cases, Ladyville two and Hattieville one.
Cristo Rey village in Corozal has two new cases, as does Dangriga while Independence has one.
Conejo Creek and Sunday Wood reported a new case each and Santa Elena three, while Cayo saw new cases in Las Flores outside Belmopan (1) and San Antonio (3).
The Belize District has 3,534 confirmed cases; Cayo 2,701; Orange Walk 2,669; Corozal 1,625; Stann Creek 1,571; Toledo 947 and San Pedro 636.
Belizeans are reminded that the protocol for handwashing, social distancing, and mask-wearing remains in effect, as well as the prohibition against large social gatherings including in restaurants and churches.
