By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Day 1 on Friday was rough, but it served to build up Kaya Cattouse’s adrenaline at the Intelligentsia Cup in Chicago in the United States.
On Saturday, Kaya returned with a vengeance in Glen Ellyn and was able to make the podium as she finished in 3rd place on the second day of the 10 days of criterium racing in-and-around Chicago. Mallory MacRostie won the criterium followed by Kayla Clemons and Kaya.
On Day 1 Kaya had finished in 12th position in West Dundee’.
“West Dundee is known for the famous “leg breaker” hill. Getting all my 155lbs over the hill every lap definitely broke my legs, but it didn’t break my spirit! Getting right back into the swing of criterium racing. Ready for day 2 tomorrow,” she wrote on Facebook on Friday.
Other than that, Byron Pope of Westrac Cycling finished 30th on Friday in the Men’s Category 2 Elite criterium.
Giovanni Lovell G-Flow Cycling Team and Oscar Quiroz 501 Valvoline Cycling Team did not finish.
In the Men’s Category 3, Jafari Castro of the Clear The Land Cycling Team finished 15th while Henry Li Project BZE was ranked 26th. Wasani Castro did not race.
