By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Belize Tourism Board continues vaccination countrywide with a visit on Saturday, July 17, to San Ignacio/Santa Elena.

The vaccination campaign is on at the San Ignacio/Santa Elena Welcome Center with Minister Michel Chebat encouraging the townsfolk to get vaccinated.

“We want to continue to remind folks that COVID-19 is still real. Yesterday alone we recorded 39 new cases,” Chebat said in a conversation with Mike Hernandez of BTB on a Facebook live stream.

Chebat mentioned that over 42,000 persons have now been fully vaccinated in Belize so far.

Just yesterday (Friday), over 3,000 persons were vaccinated bringing the total of people who have received at least one shot to over 113,000.

“We ask everybody to come out and get vaccinated. The promise of the vaccination is that it would save your life,” Chebat said.

“It is necessary for you to protect yourself, for you to protect your family, for you to continue protecting your community and your country.

“This is the only way we can get our economy fully open and back on track. So, I’m appealing to everyone to come out and get vaccinated today.

“We are out here by the [San Ignacio] market. We are going to be here until 2 o’clock vaccinating. So, if you haven’t gotten your vaccination, come get your vaccination today,” Chebat concluded.
