Jafari Castro of Project BZE wins Cat 3 Day 3 race in Intelligentsia Cup in the United States

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Jafari Castro of Project BZE on Sunday won the Winfield Criterium and Summerfest Category 3 cycling race in Day 3 of the Intelligentsia Cup in Winfield, Illinois, in a photo finish over Americans David Kosela and Luke Pharis, who were 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Belizean teammate Henry Li was 45th in the criterium.

Both Castro and Li have been running the USA Crits and have done well winning a couple of races already.

Jafari had finished 4th on Saturday at the Ray Whalen Builders Tour of Lake Ellyn in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

In effect, on Saturday, Kaya Cattouse of the C-RAY D. Banner cycling team made the podium finishing 3rd in the Women’s Category 2/3 race.

On Sunday, Kaya finished 8th in the Women’s race.

In the Category 2 Elite criterium at Winfield on Sunday, 501 Valvoline’s Oscar Quiroz finished 6th. Project BZE’s Wasani Castro finished 7th, G-Flow’s Giovanni Lovel was 24th, and Westrac’s Byron Pope rode in 43rd.

On Saturday at the Glen Ellyn, Oscar finished 8th, Wasani 31st, and Byron Pope 36th.

Incidentally, the 2019 Holy Saturday Cross Country Champion, Guatemala Julio Padilla, who is competing in the Pro 1/2 Category finished 8th on Saturday and 60th on Sunday at the Intelligentsia Cup.
