Police hope Jessica Itch’s post mortem will shed light on what really happened to her

Posted: Monday, July 19, 2021. 1:25 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Just after midnight on Sunday, Cayo resident, Jessica Itch suddenly died while at her mother’s house, and police are now hoping that a post mortem examination will explain what happened.

Today, Director of Public Relations for the Office of the Commissioner of Police Assistant Superintendent Fitzroy Yearwood, explained that the day before Itch died, she went to the police station to make a report that she had been assaulted. Itch showed up at the station with scratches to her neck and a busted lip, which were classified as harm. However, the department has not made a definitive connection if the two events are related.

“At this time we are investigating because we cannot say definitely what is her cause of death and we are hoping that after a post mortem examination has been conducted that we will have more answers,” Yearwood said.

Yearwood noted that he could not give a definitive time that the post mortem will be conducted, as the scheduling is made by the doctors conducting the examination.

“We of course express that all examinations when it comes to post mortem are important to us: 1, because we want to give closure to the families and 2, because we want to know if anyone is involved so we can give another form of closure to the families,” Yearwood added.

Itch’s mother, Ephifania Itch, said that her daughter was attacked by her common-law husband, the man’s sister, and his new girlfriend. They are all being sought by police in an on-going investigation.
