Ministry of Health and Wellness passes halfway mark for vaccination target

By Benjamin Flowers: The Ministry of Health and Wellness ( MOHW) announced this week that it has reached just over half of the total targeted people in its national “Before you relax get vax” vaccination campaign.

On Monday, the MOHW said that, since the program launched on July 1, a total of 43, 482 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19. The campaign is targeting 70 percent of Belizeans 18 years old and over.

The Ministry’s latest vaccination report showed that 2,469 people were vaccinated on July 19, bringing the total number of vaccinated Belizeans (received the first dose) up to 115,212. Meanwhile, the number of fully vaccinated people has gone up to 43,153. The Ministry’s data includes those who have been vaccinated with the AstraZeneca and Sinopharm vaccines.

The Ministry calls on all Belizeans 18 years old and over to get vaccinated and reminds that vaccination appointments can be made at https://vrsa.health.gov.bz/.
