Belize attends 7th CARICOM, Japan Foreign Ministers meeting

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Chief Executive Officer Amalia Mai attended 7th meet of CARICOM’s Foreign Ministers & Japan which was held virtually on Tuesday.

Mai spoke about the region’s priority in addressing the inaccessibility to financing for development which is critical for responding to, and recovering from, the pandemic. The meeting also discussed the COVID-19 pandemic and areas of shared challenges and shared opportunities.

The foreign ministers also touched base on the Tokyo Olympics which start on Friday and in which athletes from CARICOM are participating. 

Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Irwin LaRocque was also present at the virtual meet of foreign affairs. Foreign ministers from Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Barbados, Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, and Suriname were also present.
