By Aaron Humes: After reporting high figures all this week, only one district reported double-digit cases of COVID-19 today – the Belize District with 10 (not counting San Pedro Town, which tallied four).
No reporting area saw more than seven cases, but that area is Belize City. One case each was reported in Lords Bank, Ladyville, and Biscayne.
The neighboring villages of San Antonio and Santa Elena reported six cases between them with the latter accounting for five.
Santa Elena Town in Cayo added three new cases and there was one each in Benque Viejo del Carmen and neighboring San Jose Succotz.
Orange Walk Town added three new cases and San Jose Palmar one, but there were none in Corozal or Stann Creek Districts.
With today’s count, Toledo has gone above 1 thousand overall cases, with little change to other totals.
The public is reminded to wash their hands and surfaces regularly, maintain social distancing, avoid large gatherings and limit travel, and get the vaccine as it is now available for everyone.
