Man jailed for a week for not showing up to court

By BBN Staff: Belize City resident Conrad Guzman, 32, was remanded to the Belize Central Prison for a week today, as a penalty for not showing up to court.

Police picked up Guzman today after a bench warrant was issued for his arrest. Guzman has been out on bail on a charge of theft and had not returned to court since.

The Magistrate ordered that he be brought back again before her next week Tuesday, July 27, at which time it will be determined whether or not he will be allowed to keep his old bail.
