By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Friday was another tough day for the Belizean cyclists at the Dennis Jurs Memorial Race at Elgin on Day 8 of the 10-day Intelligentsia Cup in Illinois, United States.
Kaya Cattouse of the C-RAY D. Banner Cycling Team had the best finish riding in 8th in the Women’s Category 2/3 criterium.
Oscar Quiroz of the 501 Valvoline Cycling Team was 12th in the Men’s Category 2 Elite criterium in Elgin. Giovanni Lovell of G-Flow Cycling Team finished 36th and Wasani Castro of Project BZE 47th.
In the Men’s Cat 3 Elite criterium, Project BZE’s Henry Li was 39th. Westrac’s Byron Pope was 59th while Li’s teammate Jafari Castro did not finish.
In the Category 4 race, Deandy Ordonez of Ordonez Bike Shop was 30th.
The Intelligentsia Cup continues with The Northwestern Medicine Lake Bluff Criterium at Lake Bluff on Saturday, July 24; and closes off with the William Blair Grand Prix at Goose Island Beer Company, Fulton St. in Chicago on Sunday, July 25.
