Police catch up with accused burglar after he is shot

By Aaron Humes: A Belize City man was apparently shot earlier this morning after burglarizing a residence on Gibnut Street.

As the suspect has not yet been charged, we cannot give you his name.

Police say the suspect was found shot to the hip on Iguana Street and refused to cooperate with them. He is presently undergoing surgery.

Police recovered a television set, groceries, and assorted slippers later identified as having been taken from the residence of Shelly Thompson at Gibnut Street, though she resides on Far West Street.

The items were believed to be stolen between 7:30 am Thursday and 5 am today, Friday.

Police investigations continue.
