By Aaron Humes: The Taiwanese Embassy in Belize has provided sponsorship to the National Association of Justices of the Peace and Commissioners of the Supreme Court to equip its new office for the members to better perform their duties.
Ambassador David Kuan-Chou Chien, joined by President of the Belize Chinese Association (BCA) Johnston Ou and Secretary General Eric Chang, made the donation to Association National President and Senior Justice of the Peace, Adrian (Danny) Madrid. Separately, Ou and Chang provided funds and a thousand face masks as a donation from the BCA.
Also present were Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs & New Growth Industries, and Kevin Bernard, Minister of Youth, Sports & E-Governance.
The National Association of Justices of the Peace and Commissioners of the Supreme Court was established in 1999 to better collaborate with the Government of Belize to provide the community with better services. The Association has recently been given an office at Marion Jones Stadium in Belize City from the Ministry of Youth, Sports & E-Governance.
Justices of the peace have been tasked recently with monitoring conditions of premises during the COVID-19 pandemic to see that they follow the statutory instrument in place, and identifying violators.
