BEL announces short power outages for Mexican maintenance in North

Posted: Saturday, July 24, 2021. 1:02 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Residents of the entire Corozal and Orange Walk Districts will suffer two short power outages tomorrow, Sunday.

Belize Electricity Limited says it must facilitate Mexico’s Centro Nacional de Control de Energía (CENACE) with their planned maintenance works at the Xul-Ha Substation in Quintana Roo, Mexico.

The outages last from five to 5:15 a.m., before sunrise, and 1:45 to 2:00 p.m. in the early afternoon.

Belize continues to receive up to half its electricity from Mexico under favourable terms with the Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE) and its subsidiaries.
