One charged in aggravated assault for shooting on Mahogany Street

By Aaron Humes: Adrian Avaloy, an electrician of Linda Vista area, has been charged for aggravated assault of Kareem Smith reported on Sunday in Belize City.

Smith, a fisherman of Croton Lane, told police he was buying tacos at a stand at the corner of Mahogany and Flamboyant Streets when he recognized Avaloy standing about 12 feet away on the sidewalk. Avaloy, he said, was pointing a 9-millimeter firearm at him.

Smith said he heard one shot fired at him and fled toward an abandoned building, before taking his bicycle and going back home.
