By BBN Staff: A resident of Belama Phase Two ended up in the Belize City Magistrates Court today charged with aggravated assault of his neighbor after the woman accused him of stealing electricity.

Clifton Robinson, 22, pleaded guilty to pulling a machete on the woman and later coming at her menacingly with a hammer after she found an electric wire in her yard and accused him of stealing electricity.

While he pled guilty, Robinson told the court that it was, in fact, the woman who was stealing electricity.

Magistrate, Audrey Grinage took into consideration that Robinson has no prior convictions and imposed a fine of $1,000 plus a $5.00 cost of court which he was ordered to pay by October 29, 2021, or face three months in prison in default.
