By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Council for the Visually Impaired (BCVI) and the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) applaud the U.N. General Assembly’s approval of its first-ever resolution on vision, said a release from the BCVI.
The resolution “Vision for Everyone” makes a call on the 193 members countries to ensure all their population has access to eye care by 2030. This effort would benefit at least 1.1 billion people who suffer some form of vision impairment and don’t have access to eye services.
The resolution encourages countries to institute a “whole of government approach to eye care” so that the United Nations can reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“We look forward to continuing our decades-long partnership with the MOHW which has allowed us to serve countless Belizeans needing eyeglasses, treatment, surgery and rehabilitation services,” said the BCVI.
