Total reported COVID-19 cases in Belize now above 14,000, more than 80 new cases reported

By BBN Staff: The number of Belizeans who have contracted COVID-19 has exceeded 14,000 according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW).

The Ministry’s latest national update, which covers the period July 27-28, shows that there were 86 newly confirmed cases, detected from a sample batch of 1,598 tests.

The new cases were split between 48 females and 38 males, with the two-day positivity rate standing at 5.44.

The new cases have brought the national total up to 14,069.

The Belize district had the majority of new cases (48 of the 86) with 34 of the district’s confirmed cases coming from Belize City.
