By Aaron Humes: Belize’s largest population center by far is also the leading hotspot for COVID-19 as July closes.

Belize City today reported 21 new COVID-19 cases, most of any reporting center and close to 50 percent of all of today’s tally.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness does not break down its figures by constituency or address to avoid exposing patients.

La Democracia village has one case, Ladyville two and San Pedro Town four.

The next largest single case load is four in Belmopan followed by three in San Ignacio.

Punta Gorda Town and Orange Walk Town show two each and Corozal Town, Benque Viejo, Camalote, Hope Creek, Placencia and Sarawee each have one.

The mainland Belize District has 3,692 confirmed cases, Cayo 2,756; Orange Walk, 2,721; Corozal, 1,632; Stann Creek 1,594; Toledo 1,033; and San Pedro 686.
