By Aaron Humes: The Minister of Health and Wellness has confirmed the departure of a key member of the team fighting COVID-19.
National Surveillance Officer, Lorna Perez, is out of contract and has asked to step aside in order to take care of personal business. She is responsible for tracking, tracing and covering the spread of the virus.
Minister Michel Chebat said, “It is not that she is resigning; we have been preparing for this and we have people that will be stepping in to help us cover that area. [Perez] will be staying for a period of time to ensure a smooth transition.”
The Minister said the Government had offered to extend the contract.
