By Benjamin Flowers: The family of 30-year-old Jarid Usher, who has been missing at sea for over 23 days, is seeking financial assistance from the public to conduct a helicopter search for him.
Usher, a father of a four-year-old child, went to sea on July 5 and has not been seen or heard from since.
Raymond Usher, Jarid’s father, said that the boat he left in was sighted around July 8. The Belize Coast Guard managed to recover the vessel on Thursday.
His family is even more concerned as there have been several dangerous incidents on the sea recently, including two fisheries officers being shot at by Mexican pirates, and the boat of missing Independence resident Karl Wagner being found with bullet holes, while Wagner was nowhere in sight.
Anyone wishing to assist can make a donation at gofundme.
